Be a piece of the Team puzzle and be a unique Independent Contractor

Growing as an independent contracting and business leader in the independent contracting company world would never be summed up as an easy process that is paved with complete comfort; however, there are effective ways that each of us can maintain the distinctiveness of our personality types as an independent contractor without having to “sell-out.” In our post today, we are going to explore three ways in which we can stay true to our individual personality type while still working to grow the success and service excellence of our HVAC, plumbing, or electrical independent contracting company:

– Understand and appreciate who you are-
The first important component of growing your HVAC, plumbing, or electrical service company as an independent contractor while still maintaining your natural and unique characteristics is to understanding exactly who you are. Studying personality characteristics can be a great place to start when we are working to discover how we effectively function. These four personality types are: driver (outspoken leaders), amiable (nurturing caregivers), analytical (fact-driven thinkers), and expressive (talkative connectors). We also have naturally personality characteristics such as introversion (most comfortable in achieving fulfillment through solitude) versus extroversion (most comfortable achieving fulfillment outside themselves). While we are not all clearly defined into one of each of these unique categories, we can begin to better understand the way that we naturally act and respond so that we can begin to make our personality traits work to grow a strong HVAC, plumbing, or electrical independent contracting company and independent contracting company team.

-Learn how you effectively interact with your Team-
The next important component of your personality exploration is to learn how you successfully work with the technicians, CSRs, dispatchers, and managers within your independent contracting company. This also requires that you learn more about the individual characteristics of each of your independent contracting company team members. What unique personality type does each of your independent contracting company team members’ display? Who is more comfortable as an introvert or an extrovert? When we, as an independent contractor, learn more about our team members then we actually can discover how to decrease and ultimately eliminate independent contracting company conflict. We can also better understand why each independent contracting company team member reacts the way they do and the entire independent contracting company team can work to learn the best ways to interact with each other in order to increase productive and decrease divergence.

-Develop a Team that completes your Independent Contracting Company-
The third and final step to this personality exploration is to develop an independent contracting company team that is made up of individuals whose natural personality types interact well together. This does not mean to create an HVAC, plumbing, or electrical independent contracting company that is made up of team members with personality types that are just like yours, honestly, that would be a mess! But what it does mean is to understand that everyone’s personality traits fit best somewhere within your HVAC, plumbing, or electrical independent contracting company and, as leaders and independent contractors, we should work to find that perfect overlap for our independent contracting company team members. When we have the confidence and strength to understand that we need people that think differently than us to make up and complete a successful HVAC plumbing, or electrical independent contracting company team then we can grow stronger as a unique independent contractor and leader inside a diverse, successful, and service excellence driven independent contracting company.

To successfully manage any relationship in life or the independent contracting company world it takes work from all parties involved; but when we understand and appreciate the differences in others and ourselves then we can all more effectively interact to grow the success of our independent contracting company.
