In this episode of Windshield Time, hosts Chris and Chris continue their conversation about DiSC profiles by going in depth into the High D Profile. The High D Profile stands for Driver and is one marked by being dominating and decisive and working with them can be a unique challenge for those in the home services industry. High D profiles want to be in control of their homes and what is going on in said home. When approached with a scenario when they are not the expert like having their air conditioning repaired or plumbing serviced they are going to make quick and decisive choices in relation to the services they need for their home.
How High D Profiles Choose
If you seem hesitant or waiver at all during your service visit or call, the High D profile may read that as negative or as weakness and shut down conversation or stubbornly try to take over the situation to maintain control or because they do not trust your expertise on the subject. It is important to make the High D feel like you are making quick, executive decisions in regard to your service recommendations.
How High D Profiles Work
High D profiles make final decisions quickly and under pressure tend to be assertive and dictate the situation even if they do not fully grasp the concept. They are concerned about results and are focused on the task at hand. They want you to be fully prepared and on point and they are highly motivated by giving them something to either remove from their busy checklists or by the convenience of saving time. Offer suggestions that will provide them with solutions to their problems to secure the deal and you’re likely to make a High D happy.
Things to Avoid While Working with a High D Profile
High D Profiles do not like feeling like things are out of control and making assumptions is also a quick way to make a High D profile less than eager to work with you. High D profiles are all business and do not necessarily need to be best friends with you by the end of your service visit or call; so don’t be offended if they aren’t giving you hearty handshakes or laughing at all of your jokes.
High D profiles are also irritated and annoyed by inefficiency and indecisiveness. If your suggested visit time is 1 hour and you run over that time, you’re going to have to have a good explanation prepared to satisfy the High D likely tapping their foot and rolling their eyes as every second of their precious time ticks by.
In Conclusion
Working with a High D profile can certainly present its challenges but working with them is likely going to be just another kind of customer you will face on your many service calls.
